Dengue in Rajasthan: The recent monsoon and subsequent heavy rainfall in Rajasthan have led to a rise in seasonal illnesses. However, according to health department statistics, the severity of dengue this year has been relatively low. As of October 17, the latest report indicates that the state has recorded a total of 2,301 dengue cases, with estimates suggesting this number may have reached 2,500. Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities due to dengue this season.
Reduced Complications Among Patients
This year, fewer patients are experiencing severe complications compared to previous years, with most recovering from mild viral symptoms. The report highlights that Jaipur and Ajmer districts have reported the highest number of dengue cases, with Jaipur accounting for 302 cases and Ajmer for 220. Other districts such as Alwar, Bikaner, Kota, Jodhpur, and Sri Ganganagar have also seen an increase in infections. Additionally, the state has recorded 1,117 malaria cases and 245 chikungunya cases. The department claims that as the weather changes, dengue cases are expected to decline in the coming days.
Low Mortality Rate This Year
In a positive development, the mortality rate for dengue patients in the state has remained at zero thus far. Patients are recovering well, especially when treated promptly for dengue symptoms. Most individuals are recovering from mild viral symptoms. However, the number of patients suffering from other seasonal illnesses is rapidly increasing, and respiratory issues are also causing concern. Air pollution and humidity are exacerbating respiratory conditions for many.

Special initiatives are underway to eliminate mosquitoes in high-risk areas, and task force meetings are being held at the district level to assess preparedness.
Your Role is Important
It is essential to remember that dengue mosquitoes breed in stagnant water. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure that there is no standing water around your home. Regularly clean coolers, flower pots, and old tanks. Additionally, dress your children in long-sleeved clothing and use mosquito nets while sleeping.
